Research And Implementation Of A System Of Policy Based Fault Management

As a basal component of the network management, the fault management helps to ensure the safety and stabilization of the network. In the system of network fault management, how to deal with network event is according to the rule defined by network manager, at the same time how to organize these rule is a problem that can influence fault management quality and efficiency. This dissertation focuses on the key technology of policy based fault management, and the design and implementation of a policy based network fault management system prototype. After introducing the requirement of policy in the system of fault management, the dissertation presents the advantage of the policy based network fault management system then proposes the simple model of fault management. We analyze the concept and the key technology in the model, such as event, policy based management and the event correlation based root cause analysis. At the same time we design and implement a network fault management system prototype. The main contents of the dissertation are as follows:1. After introducing the requirement of policy in fault management, we research the concept and the key technology of fault management, such as event, policy based management and the event correlation based root cause analysis. According to the requirement of the fault management system, we design architecture of the policy based fault management system, and then we finish the design of the network element management layer and the network management layer. At last, we establish a prototype of the policy based fault management system.2. In order to intelligentize fault management, the dissertation proposes a policy framework in fault management and pays great attention to the implementation of policy decision point and policy enforcement point. At the same time, we instruct the policy message model and accomplish the structure of policy storage.3. For event correlation based root cause analysis is a key technology in the system fault management, we import rule based reasoning and case based reasoning which are two import event correlation methods in the root cause analysis. It is emphasized to design and implement the function of automatic fault analysis in network management.4. At last, the dissertation mainly tests the bandwidth when the PDP and PEP communicate with each other, the performance of distributed and dynamic algorithm for monitoring fault and the function of root cause analysis. The result demonstrates that the prototype system can full fill of the fault management need.
