With the rapid development of network technology and in particular the advent of broadband network, network communications capability and transmission speed have been up to such a new height that the application of network becomes much wider. Email is one of the earliest and most popular services in the internet. With the increasing evolution of e-business and e-government infrastructure, more and more enterprises and government services all wants to establish their office automation system and clear paper out of their daily operation, including Email system as a significant part. Therefore, users urgently call for a secure Email service system.The paper introduces a secure Email service technology, SeMail, which improves the security problems in the common Email service system with the focus on security protection respectively in server storage and network transmission.With regard to server storage, the thesis first puts forward a new security mechanism, encrypted mailbox technology, i.e. encryption protection of users'mailboxes in the mail servers, which realizes automate and transparent encrypted and decrypted storage of their mails and ensures users with unique access to their Emails and so protect their confidential Emails from unrelated persons, including other users in the same server system. After detailed analysis of the thinking and principle of encryption of KSFS, the core technology of encrypted mailboxes, the thesis extend its applications and improves some related mechanisms on the basis of its defects, which makes it universal encrypted file system technology at both the system level and the applicative level. Furthermore, there are discussions about how to realize KSFS management of users'mailboxes in the Email service system and develop storage technology of transparent and secure Emails.As for the transmission phase, SeMail is technically based on SSL/TLS Protocol with an embedded browser. Through brief analysis of the security of SSL/TLS Protocol, the thesis introduces a kind of secure transmission technology for SeMail and briefs on its practice methods.SeMail is able to meet users'security needs to the Email service system and enhance the comprehensive performance of the Email system. In a word, it is of great importance to the application of Email service with users'increasing confidence in it.
