The limitation of the traditional security protection model is becoming more and more serious as the network technology developing. It's hard to assure the security of the system with a single or a set of network security device. So, what's the matter to the whole system is a systematic management. What a network security management's need is a systematically security solution. We need a universal single management tool to manage all the devices and applications in a system, and make them work coherently to improve their abilities. We begin with an introduction of the research background, the difference between traditional network management and security-oriented network management, and the contributions of this paper. Then we present the structure and the principles of the SIMP: we put forward to a functional and hierarch model based on JMX specification and Struts technology And a JMX-based network management model. We focused on how to use JMX technology to manage the hardware and software universally, and the security of the system based on Struts framework. We put forwards to a JMX-based interface to implement dynamic management of the security resources; it uses a JMX MBeanServer as a container to hold every module abiding by the JMX Specification. We go on to the security of management, including the security of the data transportation, role-based access control. We put forward to a solution to Struts-based Web applications, and analyze the Servlet container-based security and application-based security. Finally, we give out the Struts-based implementation of the SIMP, the results of functional and stress test, and it proved that we basically achieved the requirement of design.
