Float glass technology is the most advanced technology in flat glass production. Some defects are produced during the float glass production for some reasons, such as bubbles,stones,tins,inclusions,optical distortions .These defects will badly affect the quality of glass. So it is necessary to detect the glass defects in float glass production on-line. The inspection systems researched and the technology in our country are not very mature,and they have not been equipped in product line until now. There are some comparatively mature inspection system abroad, but they are too expensive to afford and difficult to maintain, small factories can not afford them. This has severely blocked the improvement of the quality of China's glass. So research on on-line defect detection technology for float glass is great of practical significance.On the basis of further study on the research results of the on-line defect detection technology home and abroad, the author designed the on-line inspection system. The key parts design of the system, such as glass image information acquisition, massive data processing, glass defect analysis, data communication were completed in this paper. The inspection system adopts CCD cameras to scan the moving glass line by line to acquire the glass image; Judges the pixel's gray and collects defect's coordinate and gray by CPLD; after the defects data of certain length glass is obtained, the DSP processes these data to get the character of defects according to dot-defect signal character of glass. Then the DSP send the result to host by HPI interface.Lastly, the author did experiments on the data processing module. The results indicate that the design is feasible, the speed of detection and the precision of detection can meet the requirements of design.
