H.264/AVC is newest video coding standard of the ITU Video Coding Experts Group and the ISO Moving Picture Experts Group.H.264/AVC can save approximately a 50% bit rate for equivalent picture quality relative to the existing standards.Due to the advanced compression performance and the "network-friendly"nature,H.264/AVC will be adopted over telephone,broadcast, streaming services ,storage and so on. Compare with prior standards,H.264 adopts a lot of advanced techniques , which can efficiently improve video compression performance .but unfortunately these techniques also will increase computational complexity considerably.therefore,reducing computational complexity and improving code rate became very important for real-time vide encoder design .Digital media processor is a special DSP for video and audeo,its hardware core structure is especially designed for multimedia data processing. Not only plentiful multimedia data processing instructions are available, but also it is more flexible for implementation of video encoder. Blackfin 533 is a high performance video processor , which is representative of ADI's Blachfin series DSP , is to 600MHZ. it can process mult- instructions collaterally with plentiful of instructions which is especially for video processing. So, Blackfin533 is one of ideal platforms for multimedia applications.Based on the analysis of H.264/AVC ,the encoder is implemented on Blackfin533 with paralleling arithmetic and optimization .More specifically, this dissertation includes following contents:Firstly , some video coding standards are briefly described , and the background which H.264/AVC made and the technical trait of H.264/AVC is introduced in the paper .then some arithmetic of video coding are analyzed .Secondly , in order to advance the encoding speed , the most time-consuming module of mode selection in H.264/AVC is optimized . According spatial domain correlation, it can adaptively predict the types of current encoded micro-block.. with getting the comparative picture quality, SNR and bit-rate,it advance the encoding speed 20%-30% consumedly.Thirdly, The application transplant and optimization for P frame in blackfin533 embedded system was mainly based on the following sides: application architecture ,function, assembly codes etc.The research results of this paper can be used in the video conference, videophone, embedded video control, and various kinds of communication systems. It has greater research value.
