Facing the drastic competition in the field of traffic, the railway department of our country advocates that railway transportation should develop towards the "safety,heavy loading and high speed", which gives big challenge to the reliability and security of locomotive operation. The electronic control cabinet(ECC) is an important component of electric locomotive, so the concrete scheme and diagnostic arithmetic about on-line diagnosis system for locomotive electronic control cabinet are the main content of this paper.The fault diagnosis method which based on graph theory is an important branch of fault diagnosis. Several aspects of this method are researched systemically in the paper. Especially, the method based on fault propagation digraph is introduced detailedly in the fault diagnosis system of SS4G locomotive ECC. After acquiring the operating data, the ECC is divided into four states: traction and brake states of part A, traction and brake states of part B. And the fault propagation digraph of each state was constructed. Secondly, adjacent matrix, attainable matrix and level structuring graph are calculated respectively. The fault location method based on fault propagation matrixes are introduced at the end of the paper. The main content and results as follows:1. The development and actuality of fault diagnosis method based on graph theory are summarized as a whole. And applied this method to the system of ECC fault diagnosis.2. A series problems about ECC diagnosis methods such as fault modeling,delamination and location are researched based on fault propagation digraph.3. The object oriented fault propagation digraph and a facility improved diagnosis method is presented.4. Also the software has been designed to construct the fault simulation mode. Otherwise, the structure and hardware platform of the diagnosis system has been established and accomplished.
