Biometric identification refers to an identification technique of a person, based on his/her inherent biologic characteristic by computer. Due to the uniqueness and invariability of biologic characteristic, the biometric identification is more attractive, compared with traditional methods such as password and ID certificate. However, Most of traditional high performance automation biometric identification system is based on PC online application. Nowadays, because of the wide use of the automation identification system, it is required to be easier to carry and use. Therefore embedded biometric identification system becomes a hot topic. Such a system can be fulfilled as embedded technology grows rapidly.A biometric identification system is mainly made up of the general module which consists of control system and the distinct module which consists of the image-collected equipment and recognition algorithm. This thesis focus on the interface of the general module and the distinct module so that the embedded system we design can work well.We transplant the real-time OS uCLinux to the hardware, and on the basis of it, we complete the USB-Host driver to communicate with the image-collected equipment and the LCD driver to display the images. In the end, we develop an application to use the recognition algorithm.The experiment results show that The embedded System can control the hardware well; receive the images through USB and display them on LCD, so it can be put to practical use.
