The movement estimation is an important part of the video compression, it removes the time redundancy between the picture sequence thus to compression the video pictures, therefore, the movement estimation is the most consuming one of video compression. This article proposed a movement estimation algorithm, which obtains movement characteristic points and the latent movement region through the redundant wavelet transformation carried in the time domain and the frequency domain to reduced search match time.Along with the hardware performance unceasing promotion, people can use the embedded system to do the video picture coding and the decoding. As for certain newest DSP, its handling ability not only may satisfy the real-time coding of high grade picture, also may satisfy the real-time coding of the multichannel video picture. The series of the TMS320C6000 DSP are high performance DSPs that TI Corporation develops; especially the DM64x media processor, its formidable handling ability and the channel transfer capability extremely suit video picture compression.We use the TI Corporation's TMS320DM642 to test and verify our algorithm, result shows that the algorithm can reduce the search time, and restore the primitive picture. Therefore the application of the redundant wavelet transformation in the movement estimation of the video pictures has a very big prospect.
