The creation of humanoid robot is the dream of the technicians of all over the world. It presents the eager hope of restructuring and understanding ourselves.The configuration of the head of humanoid robot is studied in this thesis. In general, several methods for configuration of the head of humanoid robot are reviewed in this thesis, and the scheme of a 3-DOF neck and 1-DOF jaw is decided based on the background of our research. Comparatively simple universal joints are used for realizing movements needed. Processing drawings are produced in accordance with the scheme of configuration. Server motor and multi-axis control card are adopted for the control of the head of humanoid robot.In the study of humanoid olfaction, several kinds of typical gases are selected as the object of humanoid robot olfaction for recognition. By using high-quality gas sensors array simulate nose, gas information is collected and then magnified, converted, A/D transformed , and transmitted to the computer. Finally, these kinds of gas are distinguished by computer in order to achieve humanoid olfaction.The principle and structure of electrical nose are studied in this thesis. Based on the structure of olfactory system and mechanism of olfactory , the principle, structure and designing of electrical nose have been summarized . It also has been summarized and discussed in the field of compound of sensor array , circuit designing in signal pre-processing and selection of pattern recognition.
