At present, more and more attention is paid to Spread Spectrum (SS) communication because of its numerous features. However, technical problems of SS communication are much more complicated than those of common communication, which leads to some obstacles to the development of SS communication. For instance, acquisition and synchronization of PN code is SS communication-specific. Only if the PN codes of receiver are identical with the transmitter, information modulated by PN codes could be de-spread or demodulated. PN synchronization is an important and challenging technique in SS communication, which can be achieved by two steps: acquisition and tracking.This paper investigates functions of SS communication and generation and correlation of pseudo code. The focus is on the acquisition of pseudo code. A new acquisition tech, bidirectional-slipping-acquisition-method is put forward in this paper and followed by theoretical analyses.The main contents of this paper are as follows:It analyzes functions of SS communication and generation and correlation of pseudo code, which serves as preparations for the further study.Comparative study is conducted among correlator acquisition method and matched filter acquisition method, single integrator slipping acquisition system, double integrators slipping acquisition system and K integrators slipping acquisition system, and a new acquisition technique, bidirectional-slipping-acquisition-method is put forward in this paper.This paper analyses bidirectional-slipping-acquisition-method from the theoretical perspective. Acquisition time, false alarm probability, and detection probability are the key technical indicators that measure acquisition performance of pseudo code, which are analyzed and calculated in this paper.Simulation and realization of bidirectional-slipping-acquisition-method are discussed in the paper. Hardware is realized by the way of systematic stimulation of bidirectional-slipping-acquisition-method and comparison with results of theoretical analysis.
