PHS, called as local wireless telephone formally, has been quickly spread to all over the country since its firstly use in Yuhang of Zhejiang Province in 1998. Untill now 355 cities have PHS system. The whole capacity has reached 57 million, and has more than 47 million users.Chongqing PHS system was built in july 2003. In early times the system ran smoothly. With the rapid growth of users, the system's performance turns worse and worse, and gets more complaints from the users. To solve this problem, adding more CS or RP is a usual method accepted before, which obviously can't adapt to the requirements of PHS system now. A full-scale optimization is needed to improve the system.Considering the need of the work, this paper selects to optimize the network of Chongqing. Firstly, this paper fords out the main problem of the current network by analyzing the capability of Chongqing PHS system, that is, the channel block by high traffic and the self-interference of the system. Secondly, this paper provides the three-term optimization project to solve the problem, which has already been used in the optimization of practical network. Thirdly, this paper compares the network performance between the pre-optimization system and the after-optimization system. The analysis and evalution results show that the performance of the wireless network has been improved a lot by the optimization, so that the network could meet the standard of excellent network. In conclusion, through the research work, we've mastered the basic idea and practical technique of the PHS wireless network optimization and made good preparation for the further optimization of the county network.
