The technology of 3D reconstruction is an important part of researches in the field of CAD (computer aided design) and computer graphics. By inputting the 2D projection of two or more objects, the computer automatically searches the 2D geometric and topological information. 3D reconstruction uses the information to establish 3D model.3D reconstruction from medical images is a multi-disciplinary subject. It is an important application of computer graphics and image processing in biomedicine engineering. It relates to the subjects of digital image processing, computer graphics and some related knowledge of medical. 3D reconstruction and visualization of medical images are widely used in diagnostic, surgery planning and simulating, plastic and artificial limb surgery, radiotherapy planning, and teaching in anatomy. So study on 3D reconstruction from medical images has important significance on science and worthiness in practical application. At present, the key technique of 3D reconstruction from medical images is the reconstruction of three-dimensional surface based on the slice data. By using computer graphics and image processing technology, we can obtain a sequence of 2D slice image by CT, MRJ, Ultrasonography and other imaging equipments, and then reconstruct this sequence to become a 3D image of human organs which can be vividly displayed on the screen.This paper mainly deals with the researches on the algorithms in every step of three-dimensional visualizations of the 2D images; meanwhile, it also discusses the application on the medicine. In view of the special characteristics of the cell CT images, the paper introduces the achievement of visualization on the basis of surface rendering techniques on the slice-images. And here are the main points that have been discussed:1. Analyze the principle of image formations. Introduce several image pre-processing methods according to the features of the images. This paper adopts the methods of geometrical transformation and filtering algorithm.2. Introduce the technology related to the image segmentation, and then extract the image profiles by the way of threshold algorithm and K-mean algorithm so as to complete the task of segmenting images.3. Introduce the principle of the surface reconstruction based on slice-images, and improve the DP algorithm to take profile-line samples, and then study the principle of Delaunay triangulation approach so as to propose a splicing algorithm. The algorithm considers the aspect character of triangles and uses the angle-optimal of triangulation as optimization criterion in reconstructing surface. By the method of local adjustment, surface is optimally triangulation based on the principle of Delaunay triangulation..4. In accordance with statistics, put forward the most optimal ellipsoid algorithm by using the principle of LmedS, for the purpose of statistically describing the cell spatial structures.
