The development of laser technology has greatly pushed the fields which include optical communication, nonlinear optics and high-resolution optics forward, especially in the field of precision measurement. Based on the interference principle it mainly takes wavelength as a rule to measure many kinds of parameters such as acceleration, displacement, angle etc.Because the light wavelength reaches a nanometer level its precision is beyond the normal electronic or magnetic units. However, thinking of the impact factors from laser self and the environment around it the laser frequency drifts to different extent. According to the equation c = vλthe conclusion is taken that the drift of frequency will lead to the one of wavelength. All these decrease the precision of interferometer.Currently the light source of dual-frequency heterodyne interferometer which accounts for a larger share of the market is just using the frequency -stabilized He-Ne dual-frequency laser. Its wavelength is 632.8nm. But the frequency difference is less than 3MHz that limits the measurement speed to 300~700mm/s.In order to meet the need of higher-speed measurement the thesis studied the transverse Zeeman-birefringence He-Ne dual-frequency laser with a larger frequency difference and its frequency and frequency difference stabilization. The study also analyzed the performance of such kind of laser and explained related curves, made such kind of laser can be applied more practical.Reference to the traditional frequency stabilization methods we did deeply researches on the details of such kind of laser. Finally a method of light-intensity balance with heating servo was taken. And a frequency stabilization system of the transverse Zeeman-birefringence dual-frequency laser was made. Its index of frequency stabilization is better than 2.1×10-8.With regard to theoretical aspect, the thesis analyzed the tuned curves of light intensity and frequency difference from the transverse Zeeman-birefringence dual-frequency laser and gave some answers for these phenomenons. At the same time the thesis made primary researches on the frequency difference.The thesis has completed some creative works about theory and experiment including the analysis to light intensity and frequency difference curves and the design of frequency stabilization and frequency difference stabilization circuit.
