PKPM is a product of the application of CAD in the field of architecture structure. It can take structure designers from the heavy drawing and computing work with the premise of efficiency and accuracy. Currently, composite foundation is the hot technology in civil engineering. Compared with pile foundation, properly designed composite foundation will largely reduce the cost , which has been proved in lots of civil engeering projects.The optimization of composite foundation design based on PKPM models is secondary development on PKPM. System will extract the load and geometry data from the file of the PKPM models.Bearing control and settlement control are two different ways in optimization of composite foundation design. Settlement control is used in this system. Namely, the design is focused on the settlement and the settlement must not out the range we set when the bearing is satisfied. Settlement control is the most important theory in optimization of composite foundation design.The total settlement is comprised of two mainly parts, one is the settlement of the reinforced layer and the other is the settlement of underlying soft layer. Composite Modulus and layer-summation are applied to calculate the settlements respectively.System is developed by VC++. There are seven main modules: data preparation, parameters settings, geologic information management, pile information management, bearing and settlement calculating, graphics output and graphics edit modules. Object-Oriented Programming is adopted when codeing. Classes are extrcted from the real world objects, such as earth layers, piles and composite foundation, etc. The coding style is code reuse.System will give the optimization of composite foundation design based on the earth layer data, pile data and the load and geometry data from the PKPM model files. The system is robust and the result is accurate and practical.
