With the development of virtual reality,the distributed visible computation and the distributed simulation technology,there are more high requirements for the distributed three-dimensional scene.For meeting the above stated requirements,we propose a kind of novel model approach,i.e.Behavioral Characteristic Model(BCM),which can reflect the object nature.With the BCM method,we can endow the model with the shape,texture as well as the physical property and the behaviour.On the other hand,the simulation for natural scene is an important research subject,which can be widely used at such aspects as the scene simulation,the computer game,the film and advertisement.However,the simulation for wind waves is more difficult and more challenging than the simulation for the terrain,the trees,the cloud and the flame.We hope to increase the efficiency and the capability for modeling the wind waves by link up with the BCM,which can make the wind wave have the apparent feature such as the color,and also have the behavioral capability such as pushing the buoyant hull.Our research work mainly focus on the following three aspects:the wind waves scene rendering based-on the regular mesh,the trochoidal waves scene rendering based-on radial unequally spaced mesh and the dynamic response.With the research findings of the oceanography,we make use of the ocean wave spectrums to build the physical model of wind waves,and we also realize the wind waves mould and the representation.We also investigate the different mesh to represent different ocean condition,and we find that the sine-waves based-on regular mesh are fit for the calm ocean condition, the trochoidal waves are suited to manic ocean condition,and the sine-waves based-on radial unequally spaced mesh are fit for the crisp sea.Furthermore,we adopt the triangle-strip rendering technology and the finite difference approach to accelerate the rendering.In order to depict the behavioural attribute,we combine the wave mechanics with the computer science theory,build the simplified buoyant hull dynamical model,and realize the simulation for buoyant hull's dynamic response to wind waves.The experimentation is conducted on a PC with Celeron 2.66GHz,256M memory and Nvidia Geforce4 MX400.The experimentation result shows that with the 64x64 mesh resolution and 16 primitives,the animation of buoyant hull is quite continuous,and the rendering rate is more than 40 FPS.Furthermore,the rendering rate for the trochoidal waves scene rendering is more than 30 FPS with the 64x64 mesh resolution and 8 primitives under the same hardware configuration.
