RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is an automatic identification technology rising in recent years. Compared with the traditional bar code systems and contacted IC card, RFID system is a non-contact mode and bidirectional data communications to achieve the goal of exchanging information. No manual intervention to complete the identification work, It suits for the automated system and not be damaged easily. RFID applied to the intelligent robots will display the advantages of providing more information. With the RFID technology, the robot's movement will be controlled better, so that the robot reaches its destination in accordance with the established target. Combined with the tag's unique code, in the indoor environment which lay out many tags, we can localize to the robot equipped with RFID reader.With the support of project of National Scientific Fund and project of Excellent Scientist Fund in Hubei, the research on RFID for robot movement control and localization is put forward. The RFID techniques are firstly reviewed in this paper, including general situation, application, identify ratio and so on. Based on the analysis, this paper does some experiments for the movement control of the robot equipped with RFID reader. It puts forward a method of mobile robot localization combined with RSSI in indoor environment which lays many RFID tags.Through the study of this subject, some results and conclusions are drawn:(1) This paper analyzes the radio frequency identification technology in the application of robots and localization theory with RFID technology;(2)The robot equipped RFID reader can go to the destination automatically on the floor with many tags. The robot through the serial port exchange data with RFID reader;(3) This paper implements robot localization in indoor environment, and puts forward a localization method through disposing tags and combining with RSSI. The localization algorithm is simulated on Matlab. This paper analyses the communication data of the TagMaster reader, then implements the robot's control and makes robot get to the destination based on tags.
