This thesis introduces the method of building PC cluster on the basis of Linuxand MPI, the transplant and application of GeoFEM, and the process and result ofsimulating the stressed boundary value of elastic cubic model by GeoFEM, that is,the displacement of model's nodes when borne different boundary forces.GeoFEM is a really big source-opened parallel software for finite elementnumerical simulation in earth science. It was made by RIST (Research Organizationfor Information Science & Technology) of Japan in 1997-2003 in a project calledEarth simulator (ES). GeoFEM does well in mesh generation and solving equations.This thesis stresses on the transplant, test and application of GeoFEM.The main achievements of this thesis are as follows:(1) Rebuild and modify the PC cluster of Ying Rong by perfecting theprocess of the configuration and test of NFS, NIS, replacing RSH with RSH+SSH,and adding some common server tools such as Autofs, Putty, Samba, Vsftpd and soon, all of which are really useful considering the resources of my office. The newPC cluster is stronger and more convenient than the former one.(2) Install and debug Intel Fortran/C/C++ compilers and MPI. Also transplantand test many modules of GeoFEM such asⅣ_construct, ST, cubmesh,dynamic_linear, gdlcomp, partGeoFEM, static_linear, thermal, ucdl, pvr_module,surfurce_module, thermal_fluid, etc. Then get aware of the usage and procedures ofGeoFEM (the manual published by RIST is very coarse because GeoFEM is notcommercial).(3) Make use of the static_linear module of GeoFEM to simulate the stressedboundary value of elastic cubic model. The steps are: build a model, generatemeshes, solve equation and add different boundary conditions by static_linear, makethe result UCD format or IMP format by Surface_module or Pvr_module, anddisplay the final picture of simulation. The result is consistent with our directspeculation and common experience.
