Spatial spectrum estimation is an important area in array signal processing, which is widely used in radar, sonar and communication etc. The main studied topic of spatial spectrum estimation is the direction of arrival (DOA) of spatial signals. To meet the demand of reel time processing and reduce the cost of engineering application, this paper has studid two one-dimension DOA algorithm—one is a improved MUSIC algorithm based on even eight-elements circular array, the other is called quick ESPRIT algorithm based on uniform linear array. By simulating, the paper analysises the capability and computation consumption of these two algorithms, summarizes their advantages and disadvantages, and compares their estimation ability. Then, the paper has studied two two-dimension DOA algorithm—one is the two-dimension virtual ESPRIT algorithm, the other is its improved algorithm. Many simulations have been done to analysis their estimation error and computation consumption. A new algorithm is proposed in this paper. Simulations show that it has better estimation ability in low SNR environment than the other two.At last, the paper analysises the joint AOA and DOA algorithm. It has two advantages that other algorithms don't have. It can estimate distance and can estimate many DOA which number is more than the number of the array elements. By doing some simulations, the paper analysises the effect of the change of some parameters and brings forward its points to be improved.
