With the rapid development of Internet and the modern telecommunic_ ation technology, Digital information security has increasingly been cared. Since 1990' , information hiding has become a hot field in the Society of information science and technology. The aim of information hiding is to hide the secret data into multimedia , such as digital image, sound, video and etc. Information hiding can be divided into two branchs: digital watermark and steganography. It has a broad prospect in covert communication and copyright protection.The major work involved is as follows:1. The paper proposes a novel scheme for information hiding. Firstly, we create new Chinese characters which have same shape and different code with Windows. The Chinese characters can stand for digital '0' or '1' . Because the secret information can be transferred to digital number , so the characters can stand for the secret information , and reach the purpose of information hiding. Comparing with other methods for information hiding, which show this scheme is simple ,easy to programming , good invisibility and larger quantity of information .2. A new information_hiding_algorithm based on DWT (discrete wavelet transforms) is proposed, and the secret information can be hidden in the middle and high frequency coefficient. The algorithm makes the middle and high frequency coefficient of the cover_information into sequence of { 1≤i, j≤3 }. If there are two 'a_i > b_j ' at least, then {} represents '1' ; otherwise, it stands for '0' . The result of experiment indicates that the algorithm is feasible and robust.
