This paper selected ship longitudinal and transverse motion as researching subject, and did research on simulation and prediction of ship motion.Firstly, based on the strip theory, the hydrodynamic mathematical model was given for ship longitudinal and transverse motion forced by random sea. It was analyzed that the system stability of motion model, and it was constructed that large ship motion model with system stability.Secondly, applying spectrum fitting, it was given that forming filter of sea disturbance, which modeled for the disturbing force and moment of random sea. Forming filter of sea disturbance being part of ship longitudinal and transverse motion system, it was given that the ship augmenting longitudinal and transverse motion equation, which was solved to get the ship longitudinal motion process.Thirdly, it was predigested to ship motion model forced by regular sea based on second-order motion.Simulation was done on the disturbing force and moment of regular sea, and the simulation result was applied to predigested ship motion model. Then it was simulated that ship longitudinal and transverse motion and the result was compared with the result of hydrodynamic model.Finally, least-square lattice(LSL) algorithm was applied to prediction of ship motion. It was given that prediction algorithm of ship motion based on LSL. A ship longitudinal and latitudinal motion was predicted with the algorithm. It was given that prediction curves and result which was analyzed.
