The tracing and controlling platform, which is one subsystem of the infrared laser atmospheric communication system(being mainly used for communication between warships),gives the reliable method for catching the laser beam, tracing the warship and improving the communication reliability. It also plays a realistic role for our national laser communication development.In this paper, it introduces the mathematical model of reliable design for the platform and the popular controlling methods for motors, thus the reliable technology is introduced into the system discussing and reasoning phase. The platform uses the TMS320F2812 as its controlling center; by the reliable designs for PC and platform, which are built in the software and hardware, the operators can trace the warship easier and exactness.This system uses A/D module to receive the quadrant sensor data, which will be processed by some arithmetic in DSP program, then it can trace the warship by using the EV (Event Manager) module to control the motors (including the AC and DC motors).The system realizes the full duplex communication to PC and MPU (micro-processor unit) by using the SCI (Serial Communication Interface) modules, and has the interface for image processing subsystem. What is also offered in this paper, is that the theory analysis for the PWM and SVPWM, and the methods to implement them by using the wealthy resources in DSP.After the first development period, by doing various testing, it proves that the platform has mainly satisfied the system demand, but it should be improved continually. Now we are coming into the second period.
