In the last few years, the DSP technology develops rapidly already applied to many domains. Its specific hardware architecture is very suitable for large data processing algorithm needs to be done. It has highly-efficient, high-speed, precision and so on. It is the preferred device of embedded system requiring algorithm in many areas.As VLSI increasingly improve, more and more powerful functions can be achieved by FPGA. It has a short development cycle, low-cost, easily repeated erasure and programming and simple development advantage. It has been the trend of current electronic design technology.FOG is an essential device in strapdown navigation system. The Strapdown Inertial Navigation system has already been hotspot of inertial Navigation technology. This system is small and need mass data real-time solution. Under the background, this paper presents the project of DSP and FPGA constructing FOG SINS embed system.Firstly, the paper introduces the element theory of the FOG and the Strapdown Inertial Navigation System and the theoretical base of the systematic design. Secondly, it completes the design of hardware and partial software in the embedded system. The hardware design is the focus of this paper. The hardware platform of system is made up of single DSP and single FPGA, DSP concentrates to the SINS algorithm solution calculation, but FPGA plays the connection role between DSP and each kind of sensor, is similar to a front-end component of DSP. And the software of system mainly refers to the DSP program, including the SINS algorithm and the system algorithm carries on the data exchange with the peripheral devices. Lastly, the drift and calibration for FOG is scaled by experiments to verify the correctness and reliability of data collection and transmission.In the process of debugging and testing of system, the system works stable, achieves the basic function of SINS.
