With the development of communication services and the application of various new technologies, optical fiber communication is progressing toward great capacity, high speed, long distance and network. Accordingly, key components have been one of the most active research problems in optical fiber communication systems. Couple-cavity vertical-cavity surface emitting laser(CC-VCSEL) can achieve dual-wavelength output and wavelength conversion. So it can be expected that CC-VCSEL will play important roles in DWDM, THz frequency generator and dual-wavelength meterage. In this paper, for the first time, the light field equations for different lasing wavelengths are established by using both of the top and bottom DBRs' boundary conditions and the couple transfer matrix of the middle DBRs for CC-VCSEL, which can predict the relationship between the top and bottom active regions' threshold carries density and lasing wavelength. In addition, the couple parameters for short and long wavelength, and the variation of couple parameters with the number of middle DBRs and both cavities' length are gained. In the aspect of output characteristics for CC-VCSEL, the threshold current characteristics is obtained by using steady-state carriers rate equations, both cavity's threshold carries densities and couple parameters. The four work states are divided by lasing wavelength, which are no light lasing, only short wavelength lasing, only long wavelength lasing and both wavelength lasing. In addition, the output characteristics is analyzed under the one cavity's input current is fixed and the other one is variable condition.
