The extensive application of embedded system arouses people to focus on its reliability more and more. The test of embedded software is the guarantee of the validity and reliability of embedded software.From considerations of the features of embedded software, an effective test strategy of embedded software based V model improved is presented in this paper after discussing the methods and questions of embedded software testing. The strategy includes the process of testing and the choice of testing environment in every phase. The feature of this test strategy is the improvement of conventional V model and it is a univerrsal and engineering solvement for embedded software. Software test is induced the whole development process including requirement analyses stage, preliminary design stage, detailed design stage and a tache added of hardware/software integration test to make the test of the embedded software controllable.The characteristic of embedded software makes its design method change a lot. It is necessary to find a new test method under the new design method, a test case generation model based on task decomposition is setted up by specification-based test method and DARTS method. It solved the problem about generating test case on the basis of conventional software structured design.Finally summarize the ways of obtaining data during embedded software testing for the particular of cross-test.
