Simple Voyage Data Recorder (SVDR) is an equipment which can record ship navigation status and manipulation information and take an important role on navigation safety at sea and accident analysis. The steady run of SVDR is very important, because it is the key basis for analyzing the accident. Therefore, the fault tolerance design becomes essential ,in order to assure the high reliability.Simultaneously, VxWorks has being one of the most popular embedded operating systems because of its short time of task swith, large network flow, high reliability and short interrupt delay.SVDR record mainly the real-time state information of ship voyage, including serial port data, audio information and radar image information. The system is made up of main unit, protected data unit, alarm unit, remote monitor unit and playback unit.This paper is based on the theory of software engineering .It describes the process of the design of SVDR software and the realization in detail, and introduces the fault tolerance in the systern.Firstly,the paper introduces the background of the project and the significance of the project ,simly summarizes the tasks I will do in the project.Secondly, introduces software fault tolerance technique and correlation technique.Thirdly, describes the reliable design process of SVDR software in detail, including the design of all kinds of modules.Then, the paper introduces the exception handling of the software system and controlling the mistake of the software.Finally,the paper introduces the software capability coming true, SVDR system debugging and testing the system.
