Because of lacking of uniform semantic description, in the traditional information retrieval, it is difficult to search the resource of user's need and realize the sematic share. How to realize searching information and enhance the percentage of utilizing the digital data are the challenge of information retrieval.Aiming at the central problems in web searching, the paper primarily analyzes the deficiencies of traditional information retrieval. The paper introduces the background of semantic retrieval-semantic web and concepts of ontology. Through the research in aspects of traditional information retrieval's basic theory, technology and development, combining the semantic web's characteristics, the paper provides a model of ontology-based semantic retrieval. It describes the thinking of design and process of semantic retrieval. The paper has deeply researched in the pivotal technologies of intelligent information retrieval model, giving some improved searching methods in Web. The paper combines the RDF, RDFS into the semantic retrieval model. Because of limitation of RDF, the paper extends the rules of RDF semantic model. Finally, the extended model is approved by the test.A model of ontology-based semantic retrieval provides a powerful base and an applied frame, bringing a bright future to the research in the semantic retrieval.
