The measurements accuracy is a very important criterion of bathymetry technique. Swath Bathymetry system greatly improves the survey efficiency. However, up to now, the checkout of measurements accuracy of edge-beams can only be carried out in standard sea areas designed for tests. At present, only there is such standard sea areas in Canada, so it is disadvantageous for the technique research, application and generalization in our country. It is important and valuable to develop a set of methods to test the depth measurements of multi-beam system from either theoretic or practical side.On the basis of analyzing the error source of the multi-beam bathymetric system, the evaluation method of the system precision is discussed, including relative precision and absolute precision. The static precision evaluation method is to measure the error at the same depth under the static condition of the system; the dynamic precision evaluation method is to measure the error of the overlap points by deploying various overcrossing and overlapping lines; absolute precision evaluation method is to measure the same area using high precision bathymetry in order to test precision of multi-beam bathymetry by referring to its geography model at the same. According to the error theory, the three methods are used to determine integrated error of sources from the viewpoints of system stability, self-coincidence and system error, respectively. And they are effective methods to test whether this system accords with international hydrographic standard. In this thesis, it is concentrated on some aspects, analyzing the method in theoretic simulating, then checking out the method with the sea depth data, analyzing the measurements errors; inproving the measurements of estimating the quality, that is the method, which is according to the different statistical performance of depth error based on Gauss error and regular terrian, will improve the precison. The method is also applied to irregular terrain and other evalutions of many research fields.
