Research And Implementation Of Multimedia Teaching System Based On JXTA Platforms

Nowadays, with the development of computer network technology, the world has entered a new network-computing epoch. All available computers resources work together and become a huge storage and processor, which can solve some problems of processing and share resources. Under such condition, each kind of computer has the equal individual rights, as we called Peer-to-Peer network. Many previous applications, such as Napster, Gnutalla and Freenet , exerted a great influence on P2P's design and realization. Thus P2P technology will become another internet revolution after Web technology.JXTA technology is the network programming and computing platform and criterion to address modern distribution computing especially Peer-to-Peer computing problems JXTA technology provides the basic mechanism to solve the current problems faced by distributed computing applications and achieve a new generation of unity, security, mutual operation and summarization application. Currently, JXTA technology can not be affected by the restrictions of the computer languages to support more platforms and systems. By the XML data expressing, JXTA provided a powerful function to build up applications, and can overcome the current P2P software constraints. At the same time, through small, simple, easy development of modular construction, JXTA will enable developers free from the complex work of building their own network framework .Then they can devote attention to the building of innovative, creative, distributed computing applications.With regards to multimedia teaching in school, this paper research and analyzes the characteristics of such teaching network. The author proposes a system of multimedia teaching based on P2P with brand-new distribution, sharing resources and free style.Moreover, this paper illustrates the definition of a new technology JXTA, protocol system and application goal. Then it also introduces JMF, a multimedia technology in Java. Based on JMF, the author tries to construct JXTA Multimedia Teaching System (JMTS) with JXTA and gives details about characteristics of JXTA and its key application. Finally the paper solves the existent problem of multimedia teaching system in order to realize transferable, shareware and alternate JMTS.
