Research On Texture Synthesis From Sample

Texture Synthesis from Sample (TSFS) is one of the new techniques for texture generation in recent years. TSFS can overcome some defects of Texture Mapping, such as texture seams and texture distortions. Moreover, it can avoid the boring processes of parameter optimization of Procedural Texture Synthesis (PTS). In recent years, TSFS has become one of the research hotspots in computer graphics and computer vision.In this paper, we studied the technique of TSFS and brought forward some new opinions and algorithms on TSFS. Firstly, we reviewed the development in the area of texture synthesis and introduced typical algorithms of TSFS. Secondly, we analyzed image inpainting technique and random order texture synthesis algorithm deeply and presented an algorithm of image inpainting oriented random order texture synthesis. Some experiment results show that the algorithm works well on fixing flawed regions and can get satisfactory effect. Thirdly, we discuss effects of texture color information and structure information, and how to use structure information in texture synthesis process, present an algorithm of Patch-Based texture synthesis in random order. Fourthly, we discuss local control problem in texture synthesis process, introduce three algorithms that allowed local control. We apply them to WL2001 algorithm and make it possible to synthesis more texture patterns.
