The Applied Technology Research Of Vehicle License Plate Image Recognition

The application of vehicle license plate image recognition technology is based on computer vision, artificial intelligence and pattern recognition theory. In practice, it also has a lot of difficulties because of the image complexity.Focusing on the common feature of the image samples, the following works about the research of plate image recognition technology are finished in this paper.1. Studying the technology of image binarization, edge detection, homomorphic filtering, mathematical morphology, histogram transformation and geometric distortion conection, and a new binarization method of vehicle license plate region image and characters region image is presented.2. On the base of studying some methods of vehicle license plate region location, a new vehicle license plate location method based on multi-direction edge processing ispresented.3. On the base of studying some methods of character region segmentation, a new character region segmentation method based on Canny edge detection is presented.4. A new design options of character recognition is presented on the base of analysing some methods of character feature extraction and character classification.
