This paper first introduces the development status of the gas turbine combined- cycle (GTCC) system, and presents the primary characteristics of the GTCC system and the constructions of its primary components. Then utilizing the idea of modularization from system engineering, this paper divides the GTCC system into 3 units, i.e., gas turbine, heat recovery steam generator and steam turbine, and builds the models of these units.Considering the time-variance and non-linearity characteristics of the gas turbine combined-cycle governing system, this paper proposes a fuzzy adaptive PID control strategy. The PID parameters of the gas turbine combined-cycle are tuned on-line using a fuzzy inference system based on error and its derivative. Since the key of this control strategy is the implementation of fuzzy inference system, this paper proposes a new automatic rule generation method using the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. This new control strategy is applied to the gas turbine combined-cycle model subject to disturbances at different operating points. Simulation results show that this control strategy is effective.
