With the rapid development of Internet and the popularization of wide band network, the video on demand system becomes a first choice service which is supplied by the wide band network. As a new arisen media method, it can deliver video data to any terminal according to the user's will which through the multi-media network. As we all know, the video on demand system is used widely, for example, it can be found in the entertainment web site, in the distant learning system, in the universities network and etc.The resources and user's unceasing increase causes the structure of VOD system to be more and more complicated. Although the VOD system obtains a widespread application, it's a big challenge to VOD system that it must have reasonable structure and supply high-quality service for the users. WEB mining is a useful technology which can obtain expedient information from the network resources. The optimization of the web site structure and the implement of individual service can benefit from the WEB mining. We apply WEB mining technology to the VOD system in this paper, which can improve the user's visiting efficiency and enhance the service of the VOD system.The main contents and structure of this paper are arranged as following:Firstly, the related concepts and technologies about data mining & web mining, the analysis on the typical application of web mining are introduced for the purpose of good preparation for the following chapters.Secondly, the web log mining technologies are introduced. Data Preprocess, mining process and common methods are systemically discussed. As for the flaws of film's classification in current VOD system, a good solution to improve the film's classification is proposed.Thirdly, the thesis introduces common personalized recommendation algorithms as well as their advantages and disadvantages. As for the "cold-start" problem of the traditional collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm, a new recommendation algorithm is proposed.Finally, some technologies about the multi-models film recommendation system are introduced, and these technologies are involved in the system's architecture, the data processing, the establishment of the models and the generate process of recommendation result.
