Wireless self-organization network is one of the most important technologies in the beyond–3G era. The design of MAC protocol is the key technology in wireless network. Both the third generation Automatic Link Establishment (3G-ALE) and IEEE 802.11 MAC protocols are chiefly studied in this paper. The main work and achievements are shown as follows:1. Recent researches on MAC protocol in Ad Hoc network are introduced, and comparisons between them are also discussed. Research trend of MAC protocol is given.2. HF 3G-ALE is discussed in detail. Then a novel multi-channel multiple access technology based on 3G-ALE is proposed, the implement with experiment platform is given as well.3. According to IEEE 802.11 standard, a design and realization of MAC protocol based on 802.11 DCF (CSMA/CA) is presented. The engineering model and software module frame are described.4. Due to 802.11 DCF's lack of supporting QoS, a contention-aware admission control protocol(CACP) technology is adopted to manage wireless channel bandwidth. Simulation results demonstrate the accuracy and effectiveness of this admission control.
