The first part of this thesis, the design of 256*32 large scale video switch matrix is discussed in detail .The second part is the research on the arithmetic of motion detection of sequence images in video surveillant system .In the part of video switch matrix, the hardware and software design of the system is introduced in detail. In hardware design ,the system is divided into three parts according to the function : main board ,switch board and caption board,and by this means, decrease the design difficulty and facilitate adjusting the video switch matrix's scale and function. In software design, the design of the embedded software in video switch matrix and the control software run in the server computer are introduced. A method called"state flag"is presented to improve the reliability of the serial communication. Now, the system has been in the market and works well.In the part of motion detection, background subtraction and frame differencing are introduced. In frame differencing part, fame block coding is proposed to decrease the noise ,higer-order statistics method is proposed to select the threshold automatically and the method called extraction function is applied to detect the object in dark scenes. In background subtraction part, multi-distribution background model is proposed. On demand of the alarm system, three methods based on the character of human body, motion and skin color are presented to recognize the moving person in the image.
