For some multibody system such as robotics, spacecraft, suspension on the vehicles and so on, the tendencies of dimension increasing and structure lightening make the traditional rigid body modeling hard to simulate real working condition correctly. With the flexible characteristics in the multibody system, the flexible body dynamics simulation will produce more accurate dynamic behavior. The research is based on the project about 04106 radar antenna from China Electronics Technology Group Corporation NO.14 Research Institute. This kind of radar antenna has some characteristics with big dimension, light weight and great flexibility. For the purpose of studying the kinematical and dynamic behavior of the antenna during its great range of movement exactly, flexible body hypothesis should be adopted to perform the flexible dynamic simulation. Component mode synthesis, one of dynamic substructure method, was taken to treat the antenna mechanism with flexible characteristics. The tiny deformation was described by using modified Craig-Bampton modes. Then, the dynamic equations were set up based on the Lagrange method. Some flexible body dynamic simulation work had been carried out within the software NASTRAN and ADAMS.
