With the great advance of wireless communication and personal consumer electronics, demand has been made on high performance, compact volume, low power systems and devices, and thus encourages researches carried on in the new material or new technologies. Due to its promising future, Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) has gained a great amount of interest and various applications have been adopted into LTCC technology. On the other hand, filter plays a crucial role in modern RF systems, and the requirement imposed on filter design is more and more stringent. In view of these, this paper studies the LTCC filter design and the modeling of inductor which is very crucial with respect to the quality factor of whole filter. In the first place, A revised equivalent model of inductor is presented, simulation results show that the applicable frequency of this model is fairly large. In the second, filter design theory and methodology has been investigated, especially the cross-coupled resonator filter and the modified chebyshev filter. In the end, several design implementations are proposed.
