In this paper, by using to the ray tracing method, the light scattering characteristic of glass microspher reflection pellicle is discussed. The main work and results are as following:1. On the basis of scattered far field formula of Mie theory of a homogeneous istropic sphere, the amplitude fuction and the intensity function are given. And the light scattering characteristic of a homogeneous isotropic spherical particle and a double-layered sphere are respectively calculated.2. Based on Fermat's theorem, the law of reflection and refraction is obtained, and the geometrical ray tracing method of reflected light is introduced. In response to geometric optics rainbow theory and Airy rainbow theory, the relationship formula of the N-order rainbow angle with the refraction index and the Airy peak value position formula are derived, and the physics causation of the first order rainbow are discussed and analyzed in detail. The distribution properties of the first and second order Airy structures of spherical particles are calculated.3. The relation of the minimal deflection angle with the refractive index of glass microsphere is obtained on the basis of geometric optic theory, and the domain of the refractive index is analyzed when the retroreflective capability of the glass microsphere reflection pellicle is in the best condition. The relation of the intensity of illumination with the deflection angle is given.4. The geometric-optics-integral-equation hybrid method is studied by applying the geometric optics theory and the electromagnetic equivalence theorem. The geometric model of a glass microsphere and the glass microsphere reflection pellicle are established with the ray tracing method, and the light scattering characteristics of them are also calculated and is compared with the results of Mie theory. The feasibility of the ray tracing method is proved. The ray tracing cell method is established on the basis of the structure characteristic of glass microsphere reflection pellicle.
