Waveguide array electro-optic scanner (WAEOS) provides a high-resolution, random-access and inertialess laser scanning. The merits of WAEOS are large scanning angle, high speed and low control voltage. In this paper, we analyse the principle and characters of WAEOS. Two methods are given for detecting the characters of scanning process. One method is using silcon photodiode array to detect this process, which is fit for high-speed scanning. The other is using the scanning images produced by CCD to detect the scanning process, which is fit for low-speed scanning. We design the image grabbing card based on PCI bus, which satisfies the need of the experiment. A detecting system is built after second-development of image grabbing card based on PCI bus.In the experiment, the waveguide with ten layers is produced by MOCVD technique, the images and data of experiment are analysed. In the process of images, wavelet theory is used for denoising the image.This method is useful for additive noise. The precision of detection can be improved.
