Medical Imaging Visualization is a kind of technology that can process 3D Volume Data which comes from 2D digital tomographic images, and transforms the medical imaging data to 3D graphics and images, which can be displayed on computer screen to show 3D appearance of human people, by means of computer technology and human vision.This technology is one of the most important hotspots in the current medical imaging research, it is not only important to theory research, but also valuable and helpful for clinic diagnosing and so on.In this thesis, based on the need for medical imaging processing and the current condition of medical equipment in china and the characteristics of the CT or MRI image data, this thesis makes research into the different methods (surface rending and volume rending) of Medical Imaging Visualization, their advantages and disadvantages and the accelerating algorithms of volume rendering. Putting emphasis on ray casting algorithm, the process of visualization is studied, including medical imaging preprocessing and ray casting volume rending, and how every step is realized during the processing is analyzed. The algorithms on imaging preprocessing include image filtering, image enhancement, hierarchical interpolation and image registration. Refer to the disadvantage of ray casting algorithm, the construction speed of which is too slow, some accelerating algorithms are presented to improve every step of ray casting and the rendering speed has been accelerated. At present it is hard to get internal information of 3D model from most 3D-construction system, the interactive volume rendering technique is studied, and the methods of displaying clipping plane from any angle and segmenting specified organ are presented. At last an interactive medical 3D-construction system is designed and implemented in the environment of VC++6.0 by use of OpenGL technology. In this system the correctness and high efficiency of the accelerating algorithms for ray casting are validated and the function of displaying clipping plane of 3D volume data from any angle and segmenting specified organ are achieved.In this thesis, we not only discuss the dominating contents of medical imaging 3D-construction and visualization technology, but also implement a interactive medical imaging visualization system.
