In the mechanical product design, the standard parts, common parts as well as some similar parts take a great proportion in the entire design. For the special equipment design and the production enterprise, it is extremely essential to explore the appropriative parts library to suit the user own demand. The paper put the building of the library of the standard parts, common part as well as some similar parts into research, based on the software of Pro/Engineer. The details are as follows:1. With Family Table, provided by Pro/Engineer, to explore the technique standard library. Firstly, establish the 3D character of standard parts in Pro/Engineer, set the standard parameter of standard parts, then input the parameter of standard parts of different types with the function of Family Table, establish the Family Table library of different parts, finally, explore the counterpart interface program, the transfer of Family Table library is achieved.2. Regarding the common parts like gear, with the program of Pro/E, the secondary exploration tool, should be used to achieve its parameterization. Firstly, establish the standard character in Pro/E, modify and add the parameter in need in the created Program, then explore the counterpart dialogue box with the UI dialogue box of Pro/TOOLKIT, finally, the alternation between the dialogue box and the parameter is achieved with the explored interface program.3. As for some peculiar parts like axis, although the contour is simple, the number of the shoulders cannot be confirmed; it is difficult to shape one-off with the size driving. The paper brings forward the method of utilizing the driving program to have them parameterized. With the description method of Pro/TOOLKIT to achieve the model building of the parts, complete the whole program designing of model building in the environment of VC++6.0 combined with the MFC provided by VC++ to complete the parameterization design of the axis.
