With the improvement of people's incoming, the journey is becoming the more and more popular entertainment, and the service of passenger transport also become perfect day by day. Nowadays vehicle has been equipped with the multimedia devices, and the passengers can watch a movie, MTV or listen to a comic dialogue through the TV sets on their own seats. But this kind of enjoyment is passive, because the passengers can not choose the program that they like. The users can not be satisfied with this broadcast way, which have been infected by"Do It Yourself"deeply. Today, there are some kinds of the Video-On-Demand system, such as the KARA-OKE system. In fact, these kinds of system are all simply LANs, and a personal computer is integrant on every terminal. Apparently, the PC is too big and too heavy for the car carrying, what's more, it is expensive. In this design, we make a simple VOD system based on the MCU. It can realize the function of popular VOD system, but its peripherals devices cost less.At first, we design the frame of the whole system. We enumerate the main problems of the project, and then we take a solution for the problems. The main mission of the host is to read and write data from the ATA devices. This design analyses the two methods of the ATA devices: PIO data transfer and Ultra DMA data transfer. We make an application of RTL technique to carry out the transfer of 8bits-16bits that combined with the requirement of MCU. We also use the ping-pong operation to get the best effect of the movies. The technique gets a switch to charge the operation for the data which reads from the device or sends to the terminal. To realize the operation, we need two interrupts for the MCU. So we designed the module in the FPGA which can send pulse to the CPU.The users need to face the terminal, so we designed an friendly operation shell using the MB90092. And we make use of the remote control for the inputs of the system. After all these efforts, this system is easy to learn and play. In addition, we establish protocol for the communication between the host and the terminal. The demand operation is based on the protocol.At last, it sums up the designing experience and point out its limitation, and makes a forecast of this system toward the System on Programmable Chip.
