Recent years, robotics technology was developed rapidly. Especially in 21st century, it is becoming more and more important as it is an important symbol and representation of a nation's high technology level and industrial automation. There are lots of entertainment robots and ping-pong robot is a representation of them. Our country is a kingdom of ping-pong match and our athletes can win the Olympic gold medal. But we are at the initial stage of the research of ping-pong robot and researchers in foreign countries have arrived at mature stage. This paper focused on independent research and to build our ping-pong robot as a version 3.0.This research was supported by a National Research Programs as was titled "High Performance Humanoid robot".Firstly, this paper gives a review of the ping-pong robot's technology in the world and our country. Then we analyze the different points of these ping-pong robots.Secondly, we do the electrical design of our ping-pong robot and select the motor which can fulfill our ping-pong robot's requirements.Thirdly, as our ping-pong robot needs to hit ping pong ball fast, it is very significant to research the real-time communication system. We tried there methods to build it and we know which one is more effective.Fourthly, we apply two effective control algorithms to make it hit ball. Also, we finished the software system of our ping-pong robot and solve some problems when we did the coding.Lastly, we give the conclusion and the problems and the orientation in the future.In this paper, we focus on how to build a ping-pong robot real-time control system.
