In the process of laser propagation in the atmosphere, the laser will spread , wander and scintilla due to the wave-front aberration produced by the atmosphere distortion. The aberration can be compensated by the optical phase conjugation technique realized by Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS). By this way, the laser beam can be focused onto a distant target. The research on this technique is the project of the dissertation.Laser propagation in the atmosphere in long distance is the premise for realizing laser tracking and pointing target exactly and the important topic for the application success of the military strategy and tactics laser weapon directly, that technique can also be applied in the laser anti-satellite and the photoelectric antagonism, and provide the source of beacon light for the military tactics laser weapon. The development of compensating laser propagating in atmosphere with SBS phase conjugation is introduced. The theory of the impact on laser propagation in long distance due to atmosphere and compensating realized by the optical phase conjugation is descripted. The process of compensating laser propagating in atmosphere realized by SBS phase conjugation and the parameters of system is discussed. On experiment, for the first time in local country, compensating laser wave-front aberration due to atmosphere turbulence is carried out with SBS phase conjugation technology 10.5km and 3km away. We observed experimental phenomenon and gathered data in different weather (general and complex weather) and different period of time, The results show the feasibility and validity of compensating laser propagating in atmosphere with SBS phase conjugation.
