With the development of the computer technology, network and its application also develop and gain ground quickly. Internet has already become one part of our daily life. The resources from every corner of Internet also become more and more abundant. In fact, network is built to share and make use of the distributed resources. It is a focus issue how to locate or lookup the resources so that we can make use of them.According to the current resource sharing system, from the point of view of constructing an integrated distributed system, a prototype distributed system SEUPNET is brought forward, which takes the security, trust, and the usability of the resource search into account. This thesis is a part of the research of the prototype system. The basic concepts, architecture, application areas and key problems of P2P (Peer-to-Peer) technology are descripted firstly. Then based on the analysis of the routing mechanism of P2P, the merits of CAN protocol are concluded. Based on the CAN protocol, the overlay route module is implemented. In that module, the route algorithm is improved. The more advanced algorithm of greedy forwarding is brought forward. And an approach of load balance is put forward too. Simulations have verified the effectiveness of these approaches. And farther, the file sharing module of the prototype system is implemented, which validates the effectiveness of the overlay route mechanism. At last the conclusion and future work are discussed.
