Wireless Network Planning is one of the key technologies of Mobile Communications System Planning, which includes the design of coverage and capacity performance target, planning of BS location and deployment and so on. Furthermore, Capacity Dimensioning focusing on the capacity objective plays an important role in the network planning, whose research methods can be divided to theory analysis and simulation verification. In this thesis, a novel capacity dimensioning method is proposed for high speed wireless link, which investigates the capacity dimensioning in system level based on the analysis of link level capacity.Above all, high speed wireless link is introduced, as well as its key technologies, such as short TTI, H-ARQ, AMC, fast Node B scheduling and so on. Moreover, their performances are analyzed in the view of influence on link and system capacity.On the basis of above analysis, an analytical capacity dimensioning method is proposed, followed by module partition, setting of input and output parameters. It evaluates capacity in closed-form expressions from link level and system level. In the link level, the relationship of efficient link data rate and received SNR is analyzed with research on H-ARQ and AMC. In the system level, SNR probability distribution is obtained by considering cell topology and intra-cell and inter-cell interference. Consequently, by combining performance derivation in closed-form of fast Node B scheduling algorithms and the dimensioning results of the link level, sector throughput, average user throughput and satisfied user percentage are achieved in the scenario of uniform distribution for active UE locations.In addition, capacity dimensioning is carried out by MATLAB and C Tools for WCDMA sytem with HSDPA and HSUPA. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithm has definite and all-sided dimensioning indices, good feasibility and fine generality.
