With the microelectronization of the modern electronic systems, the electronic systems are more vulnerable to electromagnetic pulse(EMP) especially after the appearing of high power microwave(HPM) and E-bomb. Consequently, research on the theory and technology of the protection of electronic systems against EMP attack is of great importance especially in military application and thus is in the focus of developed countries. In this paper, EMP coupling is introduced and analyzed, including coupling character of front door coupling and that of back door coupling. Meanwhile, the damage effect of electronic equipment by EMP is investigated. In the end, the technologies and measures of EMP protection are discussed via three aspects such as screening, wave filtering and ground connection.
