Among different kinds of information, the words information expands much more man others. It has been a very hot issue that how to store and retrieve the vast words information. Chinese full text retrieval technology is just brought up for the need of the words information retrieval. Office automation is an important application of Chinese full text retrieval technology. In our country with the quick development of office automation, full text retrieval technology especially Chinese full text retrieval technology is needed increasingly. So Chinese full text retrieval technology has been an important research direction in office automation system.Full text retrieval technology is discussed and researched in this paper, it includes some following parts:The definition and key technology of full text retrieval were described, after lager number of related literature were analyzed. Current state and latest development of full text retrieval were summarized, evaluation criteria of performance full text search system was also introduced, as well as key technology of full text search. Single Chinese word based full text retrieval technology was described in detail.Microsoft SQL Server 2000 full text indexing technology is stated in detail in this section. It includes following issues, Single Chinese word full text indexing approach, the character of full text search service, SQL Server noise word and Unicode code, difference of full text index and ordinary index, how to build full text index and the procedure of full text retrieve.Electronic literature query system is redevelopment on the basis of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 full text indexing. We opt for java as programming language of the system, because it has some excellent properties, such as operational system independence, security, and so on. The system is applied to office automation, news subscription service, knowledge management, as long as it is modified and extended. It is no doubt that the full text retrieval technology has wide perspective and practical merits.
