Online health care system was developed with the progress of the web technology. With the help of such system, patients can communicate with their doctors for non-urgent or chronic health matters without having to wait for hours, and doctors can know the state of their patients and give them directions easily. It improves the delivery and accessibility of health care and reduces health care cost. This paper describes an online health care system which focus on facilitating patient communicate with their doctors, reducing the health care cost and improving the delivery of health care. This system provides a series of services such as online communication, online visit, electronic prescription and system customization to support better health care.This paper summarizes the development background and status of the online health care system and the status of Ajax technology development. This paper briefly describes the major issues of the system must be solved, the system requirements and project development process. It detailed describes the system architecture, the Ajax module which is used to improve Ajax development, and the detailed design of the core business module and Ajax module. At the end of the paper, it describes the implementation of some important issues, such as code reuse, implementation of complex business logic and some key issues when implementing the client side of the Ajax module.This paper solved the following key issues:Firstly, how to improve the development process to adapt to the continuously changing requirement was discussed. During the development process, the XP (Extreme Programming) methodology combining the application of small release approaches and continuous integration technique was applied to meet the requirement and to produce high quality system.Secondly, to build a high scalable system for the future development of the system, a multi-layer architecture based on .NET platform was applied. By leverage ASP.NET, WCF technologies, a high scalable and easy to integration system was built.Thirdly, to solve the dilemma of complex business logic and easy to use interface, the Ajax technology was applied. To improve the Ajax development speed and quality, an Ajax module that meet the need of the project was design and developed, which is built based on the content chunk pattern and take full advantage of the server side processing capability of ASP.NET to simplify the Ajax development.
