In order to improve the precision of the NC machine tool, and prevent shatter that takes place in the course of machining. It is essential to examine the exactness and rationality of NC codes before processing formally. The simulation technology of NC process provides a powerful implement to judge the validity of NC codes, void the occurrence of interference and collision, and forecast the machining process. The 3D dynamic simulation of NC system is indispensable to the advanced NC system, and it can abridge the time of developing products, depress the cost of manufacture, and advance the quality of products and the efficiency of production.This paper has developed a Graphic support system based on STEP-NC, and applies java3d as the developing tool. JAVA3D pack the OpenGL and DirectX into the interface of J AVA, this make the 3D programming more easily.. All of the features of the work piece in the system accord with the STEP-NC standard. Feature modeling is used to accomplish the scene. The method can construct the part with the least information, save the memory and time.In chapter 1, the foretime and the present development on NC technology are introduced. Then after discussing the problem of GM code in the development of NC technology ,the background of STEP-NC, the recently research of STEP-NC and the content of this article are introduced..In chapter 2, by getting and analyzing the request of system, the basic function of the system are introduced..In chapter 3, the author introduce the design phase of system development. In this phase, the definition and design of mainly class and the architecture of system are discussed.In chapter 4, the development of system are summarized. First the face design and scene graph of JAVA3D are introduced ,then by describing the building of work piece and feature, the modeling method are discussed, finally the author introduce the lighting ,coloring, blanking of the system development. In chapter 5, the CAPP are introduced. The author introduce the language of express and the developing step of the CAPP.In the end, conclusions and some research directions of the future are summarized.
