With the development of the computer technologies, software simulation is one of the important tools for performance prediction and evaluation of a new architecture, The article analyses the character of architeture structure, instruction set and memory system of LX-1164 microprocessor, describes the structure of ELF file and compares the advantages and disadvantages of various simulation techniques. Based on these work, the author designs and realizes the LX-1164 microprocessor simulator, a cycle-by-cycle interpretation system for instructions. The simulator LXSim can verify the performance and correctness of a new system, reduce the developing cost and time, and collect the statistical data to optimize the system performance. |
